Thirty Scouts and leaders from Falls Church Boy Scouts Troop 349 participated in an International Scouting Day on May 28 at the Embassy of Sweden near Washington Harbor. They learned about Sweden, Swedish Scouting, World Jamborees and knot tying during the three-hour event. After sampling Swedish drinks and cookies, several Scouts and leaders hiked to Roosevelt Island to learn about Swedish flora and fauna. The International Scouting Day was organized jointly by the International Committee of the National Capital Area Council and the Embassy of Sweden. It offered a glimpse into the 22nd World Scout Jamboree, which will be in Rinkaby, Sweden in July and August this summer. Marie-Louise Lövgren, head of communications for the jamboree, came from Sweden for this event to share her experiences. (Photo: Courtesy Monique Wong)
