Rotarian Jeffrey Thinnes, who is president of the Breakthrough Art Organization he founded in 2009, was last Thursday’s Falls Church Rotary Club’s meeting speaker at the Harvest Moon Restaurant. He gave a presentation about the inspiration and art of former East German dissident artists whose works were recently displayed on a five-city U.S. tour to mark the 20-year anniversary of German reunification with the intention of instilling a deeper appreciation of the benefits, responsibilities and challenges inherent in “freedom,” most particularly freedom of expression. Thinnes also described his efforts to establish a new Rotary club in the Great Falls area. (Photo: Courtesy Joe Scheibeler).
