critterNariz may be 15 1/2 years old, but she still loves to play, will sit for a treat, and has been known to play fetch. When her family first saw her at the Fairfax Animal Shelter, she had a few more days to wait to see if anyone would claim her as a lost pet. When Nariz was a kitten, she was all white except for her nose, which was black. It really stood out against her white fur. Between her having that prominent feature and the fact that she was very “nosey,” she was named Nariz, which is Spanish for nose. Within a few weeks, more and more colors appeared; first as rings around her ankles and tail and then at the tips of her ears, and eventually everywhere. Her nose is now pink outlined in black and she appears to wear eyeliner, setting off her blue eyes. Nariz loves napping in the sunshine on her quad-level tower (made just for her) or in her kitty hut on the tower. Another favorite spot is the red velvet couch in the living room where she can be the center of attention.
