Mason Girl Hoops Ready to Rock Postseason

Things are looking up for the George Mason High School girls basketball team as it gears up for the Bull Run District tournament, which kicks off this weekend.
What’s going right for the Mustangs, who now stand at 15-5? For starters, the team is on a roll, including vanquishing their toughest opponent twice in one week.
Heading in to tonight’s contest at home against Strasburg High, Mason has won nine consecutive games. During this streak, the Mustangs have won by an average score of 61 to 25.

The streak includes victories against Clarke County High at home 61-17 on Jan. 29.  After that contest, Mason head coach LaBryan Thomas indicated he expected the rematch to be much closer, and it was. On Friday, the Mustangs won the rematch on the road 47-42, and may face rival Clarke County against in the Bull Run District tournament.

The Bull Run playoffs kick off on Friday, with the semifinals on Tuesday and finals on Feb. 17. Seedings, locations and game times had yet to be announced.
