Marines to Volunteer at Bailey’s Crossroads Shelter

Twenty volunteers from Marine Corps Base Quantico will visit Volunteers of America Chesapeake’s Bailey’s Crossroads Community Shelter Thursday, Feb. 10, as part of a service day. The Marines will be painting the shelter’s community room.

Twenty volunteers from Marine Corps Base Quantico will visit Volunteers of America Chesapeake’s Bailey’s Crossroads Community Shelter Thursday, Feb. 10, as part of a service day. The Marines will be painting the shelter’s community room.

The facility is an emergency homeless shelter for adult men and women providing different services including medical care, mental health services, substance abuse counseling, education and training for homeless individuals. During the winter months, from Nov. 1 to March 31, the center is also home to a Hypothermia Program.

The Marines will be volunteering Thursday from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the shelter, which is located at 3525 Moncure Ave., Falls Church.
