After a one-month trial, the City of Falls Church began issuing citations today to motorists caught on cameras at two intersections along Route 7 in the City running red lights.
In a preliminary report to the Falls Church City Council tonight, City Manager Wyatt Shields reported that the test period found a “marked change in behavior” by motorists from an earlier period, up to four years ago, when cameras were last in effect in the City. “When they were first installed years back, the violations were rampant,” Shields said. “Now, there is a dramatic behavior change, which is what we’ve hoped for.” But he added that there still have been a “tremendous” number of violators.
