F.C. Announces Complete Budget Schedule for Coming Months

The City of Falls Church and Falls Church City Public Schools issued a joint press release this afternoon spelling out the complete schedule of hearings, work sessions, presentations and other deliberations leading to the late-April adoption of the Fiscal Year 2012 budget.School Superintendent Lois Berlin presented a proposed FY12 budget to the School Board on Jan. 11 and City Manager Wyatt Shields will present the proposed FY12 City budget to the City Council on March 14.

Town Hall meetings have been scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 29, 10 a.m., Monday, Jan. 31, 7:30 p.m., Saturday, March 19, 10 a.m. and Saturday, April 16, 10 a.m.  All Town Hall meetings will be held in the Teen Center, Community Center, 223 Little Falls St.  At this month’s Town Hall meetings, Superintendent Berlin will give a brief overview of her proposed budget and outline the School Board’s review and adoption process; and City Manager Shields will present a brief overview of the City budget. The public will then have an opportunity to make suggestions and ask questions. Budget Town Hall meetings will be taped for viewing on FCC-TV, the City’s cable TV channel.

The budget development schedule is as follows: Jan. 29, 10 a.m., Town Hall meeting, Community Center, Jan. 31, 7:30 p.m., Town Hall meeting, Community Center, Feb. 15, 7 p.m., School Board votes on FY12 FCCPS budget, City Hall, March 14, City Manager presents FY12 City Budget to City Council, City Hall, March 19, 10 a.m., Town Hall meeting, Community Center, March 28, 7: 30 p.m., City Council budget public hearing, City Hall, April 11, 7:30 p.m., City Council budget public hearing, City Hall, April 16, 10 a.m., Town Hall meeting, Community Center, April 25, 7:30 p.m., City Council adopts FY12 budget, City Hall.
