The Safe Community Coalition will sponsor a screening of the film, “Race to Nowhere” on Jan. 11, at 7 p.m. in Langley High School’s auditorium, 6520 Georgetown Pike, McLean. Following the screening of the film, there will be a panel discussion to talk about issues raised in the film.
The Safe Community Coalition will sponsor a screening of the film, “Race to Nowhere” on Jan. 11, at 7 p.m. in Langley High School’s auditorium, 6520 Georgetown Pike, McLean. Following the screening of the film, there will be a panel discussion to talk about issues raised in the film.
“Race to Nowhere” is a documentary about the pressures and various outcomes experienced by students and educators: stress-related illnesses, depression, cheating and burnout. Working in partnership with Langley High School, McLean High School, Thomas Jefferson High School of Science and Technology and the Parent-Teacher-Student Associations of each school, the SCC is also organizing a post-film panel discussion to encourage a dialogue about these issues.
Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Proceeds from the film will be used for follow-up meetings and activities to encourage continued discussions about the issues raised in the film.
