Be it the 60+ years of teaching experience its instructors have or the “oasis away from the hustle and bustle of city living” feel Director Cindy Wargo (above) described, Sacred Well Yoga Studio in Falls Church has been catering to peace-seeking patrons since opening its doors in 1999.
“At first, it’s so difficult to stop or even slow down the constant barrage of thought after thought, but even after a few classes, you see glimpses of peace and quiet,” said Wargo.
Shelling out not only moves and techniques to keep yogis coming back for more, Sacred Well gives back to the community through its charity yoga classes every Friday night. All proceeds from the donation-based classes go to a local cause, and Wargo said the studio also hosts a food drive around the holidays for area food pantries.
“Since the community votes on the ‘Best Of,’ I think it’s important to be a community-focused studio,” Wargo added.
More than 15 teachers host about 20 classes every week, including prenatal, vinyasa flow, ages 50+ and levels one, two and three. Wargo attributed the studio’s popularity to its “inviting space, strong sense of community, the broad range of experience of our teachers, our ability to handle students of all abilities and the variety of classes we offer.”
And noting that yoga can be intimidating with its Sanskrit names for poses, Wargo said her studio makes the effort to help all students feel comfortable, especially yoga first-timers.
