Clare and Don’s Beach Shack co-owner, Rebecca Tax, said the restaurant’s “biggest patio and most amenities around” make it the obvious pick for best place to eat under the sun – or stars. From DJs to blues bands, live music fills the air on the Beach Shack’s patio every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night.

And it’s not just the people taking in the tunes – bring on the dogs.

“We have a huge canine population who eat at the Shack regularly,” said Tax, who shared exclusively she’s considering creating a (wait for it) dog menu.

Four-legged excitement aside, Clare and Don’s patio’s been open year round since the restaurant’s debut in January 2006. Plenty of shade and ceiling fans keep customers cool in the summer, while outdoor heaters and tents keep patrons from the shivers during winter months.

When asked what keeps diners coming back for more, Tax said, “They can’t get such a variety of delicious food in such a fun setting anywhere else in the city, let alone in our surrounding counties.”
