The City of Falls Church Farmer’s Market is in sixth place nationwide for the most votes for a medium-sized market in the America’s Favorite Farmer’s Market Contest, second in the state behind Williamsburg, contest organizers reported today.
The City of Falls Church Farmer’s Market is in sixth place nationwide for the most votes for a medium-sized market in the America’s Favorite Farmer’s Market Contest, second in the state behind Williamsburg, contest organizers reported today.
Vote-number totals ahead of Falls Church are Capitol, W Va. at 408; Peachtree, Ga. at 360; Lewes, Del. at 360; Central Market, Penn. at 301 and Williamsburg, Va. at 221. Falls Church currently has 198 votes.
Votes can be cast online through Aug. 31 at www.farmland.org/vote.
See the local competing market in action tomorrow and every Saturday between 8 a.m. and noon at City Hall, located at 300 Park Avenue. The F.C. market features more than 15 local farmers and producers in the winter and more than 40 the rest of the year. “Vendors offer fresh locally grown fruits and vegetables, cheeses, meats, baked goods, plants and wine. The Fairfax County Master Gardeners also staff a booth at the Market to answer gardening questions,” according to its website.
