Stifel & Capra Celebrate 3rd Anniversary

Stifel & Capra “Art & Ornament for your Wonderful Life” is celebrating its third anniversary by hosting its annual Birthday Bash Show and Sale on July 3 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The event will offer items from in-house artists, artisans, vintage dealers and outside vendors. Among this year’s participants are Laird Design, Yellin’ Moon, Oh+Golly+Day and Down to Earth Designs. Owner Theresa Wells Stifel is serving birthday cake (while it lasts) and handing out balloons for kids. Stifel & Capra is located at 260 W. Broad Street in Falls Church. Redevelopment of The Shops at West Falls Church

Edens & Avant has announced the redevelopment of The Shops at West Falls Church, located at 7135 Lee Highway. Prior to this redevelopment, the Center was called the West Falls Church Outlet Center. Plans for the center include a mix interior and exterior renovations for retailers and restaurants such as the Verizon Wireless, Safeway, Bruegger’s Bagels and the Original Pancake House, which will be moving from its current location on Broad Street in September. Procurement Fair Rescheduled for October

The Greater Washington Procurement Fair, originally scheduled to take place in July, has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 6 at the Dulles Expo Center. The event, sponsored by the Mid-Atlantic Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and ShoWorks, will include a trade show, workshops, and networking designed to connect small businesses to buyers from federal, state and local government agencies and large government prime contractors. Aladdin’s Lamp Final Day of Business This Saturday

After 20 years in business, Aladdin’s Lamp’s final day of business will be Saturday, June 26. For most of those years, the community oriented children’s book and toy store owned and operated by Alina Gawlik, was located on Broad Street in Falls Church. The store relocated to the Lee Harrison Shopping Center in the mid-2000s. Most books, toys and other items are 40% off or more while select books and Baltic amber jewelry are 20% off. All sales are final. Aladdin’s Lamp is located at 2499 N. Harrison Street in Suite 10 (lower level).

2011 Virginia Travel Guide Seeking Event Announcements

Businesses and other groups interested in appearing in the Virginia Travel Guide 2011 have until July 31 to post an event for consideration in the publication. The Guide is published by Leisure Publishing Company on behalf of Virginia is for Lovers, the Virginia Tourism Corporation. Nonprofits and community groups interested in promoting an event are encouraged to list it on Virginia.org’s Administration Tool for consideration. For more information, visit www.Virginia.org.

F.C.’s Sinplicity Highlights Saturday’s Farmer’s Market Demo

Sinplicity Catering’s Leland Atkinson will be the featured chef at the next Falls Church Farmers Market Chef Demonstration on June 26 from 9 – 11 a.m. The demo menu includes Tomato and Ginger Chutney on a Parmesan & Cracked Pepper Biscotti, Blueberry Shortcups, Mini Cupcakes filled with Margarita Curd, Fresh Blueberries and Whipped Cream, and Almond Macaroons with Vanilla Ice Cream and Blackberry Compote Sinwiches. The Falls Church Farmers Market is located in the City Hall Parking lot at 300 Park Avenue.
