All are welcome to a public memorial service this Sunday, June 27 for Falls Church resident Shelton H. Davis, who passed away last month.

Davis was a 25-year resident of Falls Church, activist anthropologist and indigenous rights advocate. He died this past May 27 of lymphoma at the age of 67. Davis is survived by his wife, Mary Clare Gubbins of Falls Church, his daughter, Rebecca, of Brooklyn, N.Y., his son Peter of Falls Church, and his brother, Allen of Bay Harbor Island, Fla.

His memorial service will be held in Georgetown University’s Intercultural Center Auditorium at 2 p.m. A 1:30 p.m. marimba concert will precede the service.

The family also welcomes contributions to be made to the Maya Education Foundation, which provides educational opportunities for indigenous people in Central America.

Those donating online or by mail are reminding to indicate that the donation is for the “Shelton H. Davis Scholarship Fund.”
