Jody’s Jam of the Week: Memorial Day in F.C.

Can you feel it? The biggest day of the year in F.C. is almost here. The 29th annual Falls Church Memorial Day Parade and Festival is ready to rock your socks off. Alright, that may be an overstatement, but hey, it’s the one event in the City that successfully brings the masses in.

It’s a can’t-miss for all City residents, while former F.C.-ers flock back in droves, not-to-mention the Little City neighbors who come and flood the streets. And why shouldn’t they? The parade has it all: pizza, barbecue, chicken-on-a-stick, fried oreos, crazy balloon animals, little orange cars that come a whisker from careening off Park Avenue. Not to mention Suzanne Muldowney.

For the jocks (or just those who want to make up for all that funnel cake they’ll eat later), the 3k Fun Run is at 9 a.m. so be to be up bright and early for that. And once again, the News-Press will be rewarding those creative-types who stop by our booth with their craziest, wackiest hats. Check out our pull-out program in this edition for a full run-down on all of Monday’s events.
