“Jo,” as she was known to her family and friends, was born in Irvington, N.J. on July 23, 1923, where she later met her soulmate at the beach. Her husband, Anthony J. Viscido, DDS, passed away Sept. 5, 2009. They were married 62 years. In those earlier years, she worked for Prudential Financial.

She loved raising her two daughters, but also enjoyed her volunteer work. She volunteered at Virginia Hospital Center at the gift shop every Wednesday for 35 years. It was a great joy for her. She was also involved with the Mother Butler Mission Guild for Marymount Jr. School and Marymount University for many years. In addition, she was an active member of the Northern Virginia Dental Society, bonding with other dental wives.

Jo ran the business end of her husband’s dental practice, and was the treasurer of the Academy for Implants and Transplants, an academy he created.

For Jo, life revolved around her family. A particular time that her daughters will never forget was at the Marymount Jr. School bake sales. A woman that our mother knew would always bring her husband home a dessert. When that woman passed away, Mom – for many years after that – would bring the woman’s husband his desserts. The joy that gesture gave to him was great. That was the kind of person she was. She will be greatly missed forever.
