Kennedy’s Natural Foods Bought by Longtime Customer
Karen Sherwood has purchased Kennedy’s Natural Foods and Kasha’s Kitchen in Falls Church. Sherwood, a longtime customer of Kennedy’s, has also opened Nourish Market in McLean.
Both stores will carry a variety of health foods, vitamins and all natural products. The menu for Kasha’s Kitchen, which includes popular items such as the Power Veggie sandwich, homemade soups, etc., will remain largely the same. Plans are underway to also provide breakfast options and a catering menu. Kennedy’s and Kasha’s Kitchen are located in the West End Plaza located at 1051 W. Broad Street. Fairfax EDA President Receives Hispanic Chamber Award
Gerald L. Gordon, Ph.D., president and CEO of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority will receive a 2010 Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Bridge Builder Award at its annual gala to be held in Richmond on Friday, April 23, 2010. It presents Bridge Builder Awards to those who forge connections among Virginia’s diverse racial, ethnic, religious and cultural groups. Former recipients include former Mexico President Vicente Fox, former U.S. Commerce Secretary Carlos M. Gutierrez, former U.S. Treasurer Anna Escobedo Cabral, and U.S. Sen. (and former Virginia governor) Mark Warner. The VAHCC is an FCEDA partner and maintains its northern Virginia office in the FCEDA’s Tysons Corner headquarters. Vantage Fitness Hosting Breast Cancer Fundraiser
Vantage Fitness is hosting the 2nd annual “Pennies for Pounds” community fundraiser for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer on Saturday, April 24. The event, which is open to the public, features a special group exercise combo class (spinning, turbo kick and yoga), raffle, Members vs. Staff Tug O’War competition and individual strength competitions by personal trainers. The personal trainers will perform special feats to raise funds based on pledges secured from Vantage members. All proceeds from the event will go directly to support the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. Kory & Scott to Speak at F.C., Merrifield Networking Luncheon
The Falls Church Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Merrifield Business Association are hosting the annual Richmond Report Networking Luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., Tuesday, April 20 at the Italian Cafe. NoVa Chambers Join for Congressional Business Debate
The Alexandria Chamber of Commerce is hosting a business-focused Congressional debate in collaboration with the Mt. Vernon-Lee Chamber, Springfield Chamber, Northern Virginia Black Chamber and Mid-Atlantic Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and with the support of the Fairfax Chamber, Vienna Chamber and Falls Church Chamber of Commerce. Debate participants include Congressman Jim Moran (D) and his challengers – Matthew Berry (R), Ron Mitchell (D) and Patrick Murray (R).
