Whipple Confirms State Budget Shortfall Will Be $3.5 Billion

State Sen. Mary Margaret Whipple told the Falls Church City Council tonight the Virginia budget shortfall next spring is now projected at $3.5 billion.

Unemployment is hitting income tax revenue, and it and the fear of impending unemployment are slashing sales tax revenues. In addition, she noted, social services needs are rising.
