Jaguars Dominate Stuart in Annual Bell Game

The Falls Church High School varsity football team wrapped up the regular season in dominating fashion, defeating crosstown rival J.E.B. Stuart High 42-20 at home last Friday.

Jaguars Dominate Stuart in Annual Bell Game

The Falls Church High School varsity football team wrapped up the regular season in dominating fashion, defeating crosstown rival J.E.B. Stuart High 42-20 at home last Friday.

This is the fifth consecutive year the Jaguars have defeated Stuart, thus keeping the coveted bell. Falls Church ran up 28 points in the second quarter alone en route to victory.

Quarterback Ajay Kashyap threw for 203 yards and two touchdowns, and stud running back Marcus Hughes rumbled for 221 yards and three touchdowns and 21 carries, and Christian Eusebio had seven grabs for 155 yards and a score.

The team wraps up the regular season at 5-5, and won four of their last five.

Falls Church Runners Take On Regional Championship

The Falls Church boys cross country team finished 15th at regionals held last week at Burke Lake.

The boys team was led by Alex Rowe in 38th.

The girls team finished 14th and were guided by Kimberly Bruyette in 48th. Next up are the state championships on Saturday, Nov. 14 at the Plains.

Statesmen Taken Down Again, Loss to Madison Ends Season

The George Marshall High School football team’s 2009 season came to an end last week with a 49-7 loss on the road to rival Madison.

Quarterback Ryan Walter threw for 154 yards and a touchdown, receiver Jack Bennett had 54 yards receiving and a touchdown and running back Victor Vanegas rumbled for 53 yards.

The loss concludes a difficult season for Statesmen, who finish 1-9.

Marshall’s Herbolshei Takes 58th Place at XC Regionals

At the cross country regionals at Burke Lake last week, Courtney Herbolshei took 58th out of 120 finishers in a time of 19:43.

After Homecoming Loss, Mustangs Fight Back

The Mustangs football team got back on the winning side of things, defeating Strasburg High on the road 21-14.

Senior running back Chris Saraus led the way with two touchdowns.

The Mustangs, who had lost two in a road, improve their record to 6-3 heading into their final regular season game of the year – a home tilt this Friday at 7:30 p.m. against Manassas Park.

Stuart Football Closes Season 3-7 With Loss to Falls Church

The Stuart High School football team wrapped up its regular season with a 42-20 loss on the road to Falls Church last Friday.

Chris Ventura ran for 96 yards and a touchdown and Jason Friday added 88 yards and a score.

Friday also threw for 217 yards and a touchdown.

The Raiders conclude their season at 3-7.

Raiders’ Zapple Places at Regional XC Championship

The Raiders cross country team’s Chris Zapple finished 83rd out of 123 finishers with  a time of 17:01 at the Northern Region Cross Country Championships held at Burke Lake last week.

Highlanders Football Pulls Through With Tight Win

The McLean High School football team won a squeaker at home against Langley 35-34 in overtime.

The Highlanders’ Riley Beiro ran for 284 yards and four touchdowns as the team won in dramatic fashion.

The victory improves McLean’s record to 6-4, and the squad next faces Lee High on the road on Friday in Liberty District play.
