Many Chose to Live in F.C. Due to Schools

Editor,

I am replying to the recent Letter to the Editor critical of the level of school funding in Falls Church, entitled “Why Are Schools Flourishing On the Back of City?”.

It may come as a surprise to you, but many of the residents of the city of Falls Church actually chose to reside here based on the superior public school system, not because of the “perks” of Falls Church City including the GEORGE bus line and its frequent unnecessary stops and free mulch delivery every spring.

Also, one might argue, that the excellent reputation of the schools, means that the teachers are doing a good job and therefore should be rewarded for their performance.

Why Won’t Post Office Accept FedEx?

Editor,

I have a box at the UPS store on West Broad St., rather than a P.O. box, solely because the Postal Service won’t accept deliveries from FedEx and the other parcel services. I think this policy is short-sighted, evidence of an “us vs. them” mentality, and does not serve the public interest.
