Former F.C. Resident Mamie Deutsch Dies

Former Falls Church resident Mamie (Losenno) Deutsch passed away April 4, 2009 quietly at home with her family in Ft. Worth, Texas.deutschobit

Born May 15, 1918 in Denver, Mamie was the daughter of Antonio and Rose Losenno and wife of Mike J. Deutsch (deceased). She attended Denver’s North High School. The family lived in Aurora, Co. until 1958 when they relocated to Falls Church. Mamie was active at St. James and St. Philips Catholic churches. She enjoyed volunteering at church functions while also working for Arlington County Mental Health Department. Her homemade Italian cooking was renowned. Upon retiring, she lived with her children, traveling to Springfield, Va., Pleasanton, Ca., Athens, Ga. and Ft. Worth, Tx.

She is survived by her five children and their spouses: Nickie Wheelock, Tony Deutsch (Susan), Ricky Deutsch (Diane), Michelle LaMarche (Mike) and Rocky Deutsch (Karen). She has 10 grandchildren, and five great-grandchidren.

A church service will be conducted on May 28 at 10 am at the Church of the Nativity, 6400 Nativity Lane, Burke, Va. 22015. This will be followed by a brief memorial gathering at Arlington National Cemetery at the Columbarium (Court No. 2) at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Catholic Charities USA to the area of choice through the link: www.CatholicCharitiesusa.org/Page.aspx?pid=200.
