The Falls Church Planning Commission was told at a work session in City Hall Monday that BJ’s Wholesale Warehouse is “on a fast track” to get its planned new F.C. location up and running on Wilson Blvd., and that’s why they’re being “very cooperative” with the City’s Planning Staff in meeting the staff’s wishes for upgrades on its site. So reported F.C.’s Director of Planning Suzanne Cotellessa.
The Planning Commission will receive and act on BJ’s site plan for leveling and developing the site at its meeting this coming Monday.
Then, pending an expected mid-April OK from the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), which requires a review of any such development on a road that handles more than 250 cars an hour, landfill and construction efforts could begin this spring.
The one-story building will be 89,000 square feet, and the property will have 366 parking spaces. The City estimates BJ’s will bring $500,000 a year in net revenue to the City once it’s up and running, equal to nearly two cents on the residential real estate tax rate.
