Falls Church Kiwanis Little League Report

The Falls Church Kiwanis Little League celebrated its new season with a parade and opening ceremonies on Saturday, April 21 at Westgate Field. Welcoming comments were offered by Falls Church Mayor Robin Gardner and Rev. George E. Handley, a retired Lutheran minister who has three grandsons playing in the league.

SINGLE A

Redwings 18 – Bees 9

With his second double of the season, Connor Freeman led the offensive charge of the Redwings (2-0) as they defeated the Bees 18-9 in their game April 21.  Nick Haddock made a thrilling shoestring catch in right field to stop a Bees rally in the second inning.

 

MAJORS

A’s 4 – Red Sox 1

In Saturday’s contest, Matt Ledder and Brandon Charters each squelched potential rallies by the Red Sox with outstanding plays in the field, preserving the win for starting pitcher Clint Rock, who had an especially strong outing.  For the Sox, Lucas Cherry continued his hot hitting streak and second baseman Dalton Marsh made a terrific throw from short right field to nail an A’s runner at the plate.
