The Center for Multicultural Human Services, based in Falls Church, was awarded a three-year, $748,908 grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to create a national technical assistance center that will help communities around the country respond better to the needs of immigrant and refugee children and families. The primary purpose of the Training and Technical Assistance Program is to help the human service community nationwide develop knowledge, skills, and confidence in working with and providing much-needed social services to an increasingly multicultural client base. Celebrating its 25th Anniversary, CMHS has operated in Falls Church since 1982. It was created in response to the influx of immigrants and refugees into the Fairfax County area and to their growing needs in the areas of mental health and other social services.
