Acacia Federal Savings announced the winners of their 2nd Annual Nice Guys awards which were granted in three categories. Gary LaPorta/Miniatures from the Attic won in the business category while The Naomi Project won in the organization category and Patricia Gauthier, Executive Director of the all-volunteer Ecumenical Community Helping Others (ECHO) won in the individual category. During the first weekend of October, several businesses in the Broadway Building at 502 W. Broad Street in Falls Church are supporting the operations and programs of the Falls Church Education Foundation. Impulsive Gallery will donate 10% of proceeds to the Foundation on FIRSTfriday, October 6, 2006. On that same date, Hollywood Video is giving free video rental coupons to those who mention the Foundation. The National Massage Therapy Institute has completed construction on a 4,400 square feet of new space at its Falls Church, Virginia campus. The space includes new classrooms, bodywork labs and offices for the school’s massage therapy students and faculty. PRS, Inc., has received the Community Trustee/Nonprofit Award for 2006 by Leadership Fairfax as part of their annual Northern Virginia Leadership Awards. PRS will be presented with the award, which recognizes a nonprofit organization that has demonstrated service and stewardship in the Northern Virginia community, at the Northern Virginia Leadership Awards Gala on Friday, November 3. Formerly known as Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services, PRS is a 501(c)(3) private non-profit that provides a full range of psychosocial rehabilitation services for persons in Northern Virginia with a psychiatric disability. Established in 1963, PRS is a leader and innovator in the “recovery” model of rehabilitation, which tailors services to each individual’s needs and goals. Red Hot & Blue Restaurants, Inc., inspired by the popular TV reality show “American Idol”, is introducing a Limited Time Offer menu titled “American Meatloaf Star”. The special menu and meatloaf star recipe contest runs from September 25th through November 5th. Falls Church-based Trimark Corporation commenced the major renovation of South Cherry Plaza — formerly known as Diener’s Center — a 32,000-square-foot retail center located at 6537 Arlington Boulevard (Route 50) in Falls Church. Lebanese Taverna, Robeks Fruit Smoothies & Healthy Eats, Sunrise of Falls Church, Sweet Rice Thai Cuisine, The Auld Shebeen, and ZPizza will all have “taste’s” available while local artists display their artwork and local musicians perform throughout the day.
