Lee Graham Pool Right Where It Wants to Be After Divisionals

One week after falling to first-place and undefeated Tuckahoe Pool in a dual meet, Lee Graham Pool hosted the Divisional meet, posting a strong showing to remain in Division Two for next summer. While Tuckahoe will have to move up to Division One, the future looks bright for the Falls Church-based swimmers.

Lee Graham kicked off the meet by earning a sweep in the 50-meter freestyle for 13-14-year olds. Lucas Cherry eked out a .32 second win while teammate Logan Coulson Moore won in more dominating fashion by well over a second. The duo also won the 50-meter backstroke in their respective fields.

Cherry's sister, Maddie, won the 9-10 50-meter backstroke by a tenth of a second, while Miller Surette took first in the 50-meter breaststroke in the 11-12 age group. Lee Graham swept the 15-18 50-meter breast with Brandon Alexander and Natalie Leake each winning. Ben Southern (50-meter butterfly) and Christine DeFlumeri (100-meter individual medley), both swimming in the 13-14 age group, rounded out Lee Graham's winners.

With the team portion of its schedule wrapped up, Lee Graham now turns its attention to the Individual All-Stars meet, to be held on Saturday at Boyhill Crest Pool.

High Point Pool Wraps Up Team Season in Third Place

Swimming in the Division Four meet at Mansion House last Friday, High Point got off to a fast start as Lachlan Flatin and Sigrid Edson both won the 25-meter freestyle events for the eight-and-under group. 15-18 swimmer Hunter Perrot also took first in the same event.

Flatin and Edson continued their dominance of their age group in the 25-meter breaststroke. Edson won her event by nearly three seconds. Aside from Perrot and the young pair, High Point did not win any events at the Divisional meet.

Kelley Frank, a rising senior George Mason High School, finished in second place in the 50-meter butterfly and the 50-meter freestyle. Benjamin Sharrer and Zoe Skoric, swimming in the eight-and-under 25-meter butterfly, also placed second.

Crush in Fourth After Atrong Divisionals

Poplar Heights finished the team portion of its schedule at 2-3 in the Northern Virginia Swimming League's Division Nine, capped off by Saturday's Divisional meet at Forest Hollow Pool.

Katie Yensen (15-18) was the Crush's first winner, topping the field in the 50-meter freestyle event. Isabelle Oliver (9-10) won the 50-meter backstroke by nearly three seconds, while Will Doty, a George Mason student, edged out a .06-second win in the 50-meter backstroke event for 15-18-year olds.

Ian Thompson, swimming in the eight-and-under field, won the 25-meter breaststroke, while Beth Cashin (11-12) took the 50-meter breast. Alexandra Yensen rounded out Poplar Height's winners by winning the 100-meter medley race in the 15-18 age group.
