Lady Mustangs Stop Lancaster in Richmond Final

Led by five seniors playing their last game, George Mason High's Lady Mustangs successfully defended their state basketball crown Saturday, trouncing the Lancaster High Red Devils, 58-47, at Virginia Commonwealth University's Siegel Center in Richmond, and taking their third-ever state championship. If the Mason High School baseball team is to enjoy a successful season, it most likely will be because of the team's pitching.

The Mustangs, who open regular season play at 6 p.m. on Thursday at Loudoun County High, return their entire pitching staff from last year's team.

Falls Church High School welcomed a new Jaguar this week: incoming football Head Coach Said Aziz.

Aziz, the former assistant coach for Stafford High, took over March 3 from Jaguars Head Coach Anthony Parker, who left Falls Church after eight years coaching the football team, with a difficult 29-51 record. Parker will be coaching at Edison High next year.

I spend an unhealthy amount of time watching college basketball. How do I know it's unhealthy? You know when you stare into the sun for a second and then you turn away and see all those little silver flashing spots? When I stare at a college hoops game the same thing happens to me, except those little flashing things are brackets.
