F.C.'s CBC Prefers 'Small Town' to 'Little City' Print E-mail
Tuesday, November 23 2010 06:07:06 PM

In a vote to adopt bylaw modifications at its 51st annual meeting Sunday night,  members of Falls Church's venerable civic association, the Citizens for a Better City (CBC) present voted by a 20-17 to reject a proposed change that would have included the Falls Church's official new slogan, "The Little City," in an amendment to those by laws.

A motion that failed was to substitute to the new "Little City" slogan for "small town" in the phrase, "small town character." However, a reference in the previous bylaws to the "predominantly single family residential, low skyline character" of F.C. was deleted. The "equal opportunity" paragraph was expanded from basic rights "regardless of race, creed, color or sex" to substitute "gender" for "sex," and add "sexual orientation, national origin, disability, age, socio-economic status, or religion." New officers elected by acclamation were Sally Ekfelt, president; Tom Clinton, first vice president; Julie Krachman, second vice president; Steve Sprague, treasurer and Carol Loftur-Thun, secretary. At-large Executive Committee members elected were Jody Acosta, Nancy Bradon, Craig Cheney, Carol DeLong, Cathy Kaye, Kathy Kleiman, Hal Lippan, Rob Meeks, Brian O'Connor and Edie Smolenski.
