City of Falls Church Police Chief Harry Reitze assured the Falls Church City Council at its meeting tonight that a resumption of its "photo red light" operation will begin with a 30-day trial this fall, echoing the frustrations of many due to the need, under new state laws, for VDOT to pre-approve of any intersection included in the operation before any set-up can occur. Reitze noted that VDOT had already vetoed some intersections in the City, but that he was optimistic that suitable ones are in the process of being OK'd. The Council tonight voted 7-0 for some changes to the City's "photo red light" ordinance only to bring it into conformance with new state laws.
