Dan Fissell, a music teacher at Vienna Elementary and Marshall Road Elementary, died yesterday as the result of injuries he suffered in a house fire last Saturday, March 6. The news was confirmed by Jennifer Heiges, principal of Marshall Road Elementary, in a letter to parents today.

"Mr. Fissell was well known and well loved by many of our staff members, students, and their families for his commitment to the strings program," Ms. Heiges wrote. She indicated that the school staff met with 4th, 5th and 6th grade students today to inform them. She advised the parents to "deal openly with the subject and comfort your child if he or she is upset."

Fissell lived in the Idylwood area of greater Falls Church.
