Fairfax Education Association Endorses Evans for Mason District Print E-mail

The Fairfax Education Association announced Friday its endorsement of Mason District candidate Sandy Evans for the Fairfax County School Board.

In its announcement, the Fairfax Education Association (FEA), Fairfax County's largest teacher organization, said Evans "has the background and knowledge to do what is best for both students and teachers. She has a long history of outstanding work as an advocate for quality public education in Fairfax County."

Evans' campaign warmed up last October when former Mason representative Kaye Kory left office to become the 38th district's state delegate. Evans received an official endorsement from the Fairfax County Democratic Party in December, as well as from Kory.

Evans has earned the support of current school members Tina Hone, Ilryong Moon and Jim Raney, all at-large; and Mt. Vernon representative Dan Storck and Lee representative Brad Center.

Evans' opponent for the Mason District seat, Samantha Rucker, has also received key endorsements from GOP affiliates, including current Virginia governor Bob McDonnell and Pat Herrity, the Springfield District supervisor on Fairfax County's Board of Supervisors.

The special election for the Mason District seat will take place March 2.
