Local developer Bob Young announced today that the Sfizi Cafe of Fairfax has signed a lease to relocate to the Flower Building (800 W. Broad) in Falls Church, with plans to open this summer. Owner Lino P. Ricciardi invited the News-Press to his current location on Fairfax Blvd. to display the cafe, which is also a trattoria, wine shop and market, that he has operated there since 2004, and his excitement about the move to Falls Church. The establishment offers authentic, homemade Italian specialties, as well as prepared foods, imported products, catering, an espresso bar and wine bar. Ricciardi, a native of an area an hour east of Naples, Italy, said that "Sfizi" is an Italian word that describes "a strong craving, a whim, a special treat." Young stated the establishment is "just the kind of thing I was looking for to fill the spot in the Flower Building, that is perfect for what Falls Church wants." Young also announced that he is moving the offices of his development company, Jefferson One, to the third floor of the same building, meaning that the building will be filled to capacity with tenants, including the U.S. Post Office, Flippin Pizza, and the Falls Church City Public Schools' offices.
