bronzeNine members of Falls Church's Girl Scout Troop 2909 received the Bronze Award for their work in the community to end hunger and poverty. The Bronze Award is the highest honor available to Junior Girl Scouts and requires each recipient to perform a minimum of 20 hours of community service. The girls of 2909 prepared meals to serve to homeless and needy families in our community, greeted homeless guests at the Emergency Hypothermia Shelter, organized World Thinking Day for 200 Daisies, Brownies, Juniors, and Cadettes in our area, and raised money for CARE in Haiti. The recipients of the award and their troop leaders are pictured above, from left to right: Marguerite Greer, Lillian Cochrane, Liz Greer (troop leader), Marianna Karagiannis, Julia Chichester, Emma Klein, Elise Welsh, Alexandria De Van, Norah Riester, and Beth Olkowski (troop leader). MacKenzie Wiley also earned the Bronze Award, but is not pictured. (Photo: Courtesy Jennifer Klein)
