New Comic Book Store Opens in F.C.

Victory Comics has opened at 586 S. Washington Street in the space formerly occupied by Dinettes and Stools. The new retail store, owned and operated by local resident Jeff Weaver, opened this week.

It offers new and old comic books, toys, games, and sports cards and it will soon also offer in-store gaming. It is open Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11am to 6pm, Wednesdays (when they receive new comics) from 11am to 8pm, Fridays from 11am - 9pm and Saturdays 10 am to 9 pm. Fairfax City's Sfizi Café Relocating to 'Flower Building'

Sfizi Café will open a location in "The Flower Building" at 800 Broad Street over the summer. Owner Lino P. Ricciardi opened Sfizi Café on Fairfax Blvd in Fairfax in 2004. The café is also a trattoria, wine shop and market which offers authentic, homemade Italian specialties, as well as prepared foods, imported products, catering, an espresso bar and wine bar. The Flower Building was developed and is owned by The Young Group/Jefferson One. It currently houses the U.S. Post Office, Flippin Pizza, the Falls Church City Public Schools' offices, and Butz-Wilbern the building's architects among others. The Young Group will soon be moving into the building as well.

 

Elevation Burger Secures International Franchise Deal

Elevation Burger has secured its first international multi-unit franchise deal with Ali Ashkanani, an investment banker and entrepreneur from Kuwait. Founded by Hans and April Hess five years ago in Falls Church, Elevation Burger is known for its organic burgers and fresh cut fries cooked in olive oil. The rapidly growing franchise operation now has locations in Arlington, Austin, Tx. Baltimore and it has more than 50 new locations in development in Florida, New Jersey, New  York, Texas, Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. Ashkanani will open his stores in the middle-east and expects to have his first restaurant open in Kuwait by mid-2010. The Falls Church restaurant is located at 422 S. Washington Street. F.C. Grants 30 Business Licenses in September & October

The City of Falls Church granted 30 business licenses in the months of September and October. Information on business licenses and permits is available from the office of the Commissioner of the Revenue in City Hall located at 300 Park Avenue in Falls Church.

 

F.C. Chamber Networking Mixer Tuesday

The Falls Church Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Networking Mixer at the Italian Café on Tuesday, February 16. The meeting will include a facilitated networking exercise.
