Three Falls Church based businesses were ranked in the Virginia Chamber of Commerce's "Virginia's Fantastic 50" listing.

Brian Williams, local resident and cofounder and CEO of Viget Labs was named by Washingtonian Magazine as one of Washington's Tech Titans, a list of the 100 leaders of the area's tech world. The "trendy Falls Church-based Web-strategy firm", as described in the Washingtonian article, was founded by Williams, his brother Andy Rankin and their father Wynne "Pop" Williams in 1999. The Young Group developed building at 800 W. Broad Street (aka "the Flower Building") in Falls Church has been selected from more than 2,500 nominated projects, as a Green Building of America Award-winning project and will be featured in the upcoming special Real Estate & Construction Review-Northeast Green Success Stories edition. Each Green Building of America Success Story project is highlighted in a case study that intertwines the words of the project's owner/developer, consultants, architects and contractors to explain how the teams worked together to design and build one of the region's most important, innovative or unique new or renovated sustainable facilities. The commercial condominium building will house the retail portion of the Falls Church US Post Office and Flippin Pizza on the ground floor.

Elevation Burger, a Northern Virginia based chain known for its tasty organic burgers and patented fresh cut fries cooked in olive oil, has opened a new franchised restaurant in Arlington. Neeraj Vohra and Lisa Vohra have opened an Elevation Burger in Arlington, located at the Lee Harrison Shopping Center, 2447 North Harrison St. The Vohras plan to open five total restaurants in Virginia, and they are considering locations in Kingstowne, Pentagon Row, McLean, Shirlington and Old Town. A second franchise location has been opened in Baltimore by Alex Smith who currently owns and operates a Haagen Dazs store in the Harbor East neighborhood. A third franchise location at National Harbor, owned by Ahmad Mahmoud, is scheduled to open in June. The restaurant concept has received recognition in Washingtonian magazine and The Washington Post as "best shake" and "best burger" nominees. Founder Hans Hess received the "Green Business Visionary" award in 2008 from the Washington Business Journal, and will be receiving the 2009 Green Business Award from Washingtonian Magazine in May of 2009. Events

Vantage Fitness is hosting "Pennies for Pounds" to raise funds for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life event. Trainers have been collecting pledges based on repetitions of pounds raised. On Sat, May 23 trainers will put their muscles where their mouths are to secure the pledges. Members and guests are encouraged to attend and participate in a three part "Class Collision" workout bringing Turbo-Kick, Cycling and Yoga together. Long & Foster Realtors in Falls Church are participating in Community Service Day on Wed, June 3. Local resident, James S. Elkin Award for Humanitarianism Award winner and Realtor, Tori McKinney, is coordinating the effort which will benefit Falls Church-based Homestreatch.
