$ Ambulance Now in Fairfax CountyThe Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department has begun as of April 1 charging for emergency medical service transport. The charges are $300 for basic life support transport, $400 for Level 1 advanced life support, $550 for Level 2 advanced life support and $7.50 per mile from pick-up point to the hospital for ground transport. No one will be denied county ambulance service based on ability to pay or lack of insurance. County residents who have health insurance, Medicare or Medicaid will be fully covered by their insurance. Those without insurance can fill out "hardship waiver forms" to help ensure no one suffers financial hardship as a result of ambulance transport.
