Sakura Matsuri - Japanese Street Festival

The Saturday, 12th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue in D.C. will be transformed for the Sakura Matsuri - Japanese Street Festival. A cornerstone of the Cherry Blossom Fest, the Sakura Matsuri Fest is the largest Japanese street festival in the U.S and best of all, it’s free. Performers, vendors, artisans and festival goers will be in full-force promoting the cross-cultural awareness between Japan and the U.S. Some local performers who will be showcased include Okinawa Sanshin of Washington, the Shizumi Kodomo Dance Troupe, and children’s musical ensembles from Great Falls Elementary Japanese Immersion Program and Washington Japanese Heritage Center. The Taste of Japan will be on hand offering up some of DC’s best Japanese chef’s creations. Wash it all down at the Sapporo Beer Garden and then check out the arts & crafts, karaoke, martial arts expos and more.
