Falls Church's Steve Kuhn Dies at Age 54Stephen Jeffrey Kuhn, 54, a lifelong City of Falls Church resident, died suddenly while playing basketball at the Falls Church Community Center last Thursday night. Kuhn, known for 30 years as an avid player and coach of Falls Church Recreation Department basketball, is survived by his wife Cynthia and two daughters, Maggie and Katie, both successful players on George Mason High School girls basketball teams. Kuhn was employed by Carr America as a project supervisor for the Freedom Foundation's new Newseum under construction on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, D.C. The son of Lloyd and Beverly Kuhn, he was born June 11, 1950 in Arlington and graduated from Yorktown High School in 1969 and the University of Virginia School of Architecture in 1974. He is survived by a brother, Bob, who lives in Falls Church with his wife Alix and their sons Kerry, Kevin and Robert, all current or past George Mason High School students. His wife is chief editor for the D. C. Bar. His daughter Maggie, GMHS Class of 1997, was a point guard on the Mustang basketball team. His daughter Katie, Class of 1999, made the winning shot at the buzzer in the regional final during her junior year when they won the team won the state championship. Kuhn was playing a full-court basketball game at the Community Center last Thursday, a weekly ritual for him, when he suddenly collapsed and never regained consciousness. Funeral services were held in Arlington at the St. Peter's Episcopal Church on Tuesday.
