The Editor Recommends...Champions on Ice, MCI Center, Friday, April 1, 7:30 p.m. This event marks the one time a year folks in the Washington, D.C., area get to marvel at the breathtaking talents of some of the world's best ice skaters, many coming from the U.S. championships in Portland followed by the world championships in Moscow. Many of the names you will see here Friday will be competing in the Winter Olympics next February. Five-time world champion Michelle Kwan heads the line-up, followed by two-time U.S. champion Johnny Weir, performing despite a foot injury that plagued him in Moscow, limiting him to fourth place. World champions Irina Sluskaya and Evgeni Plushenko will also be there, along with Elvis Stojko, Timothy Goebel and many others, including four dance teams and three specialty acts.
