Jody's Jam of the Week

DC Independent Film Festival
By Jody Fellows

At the Oscars last week, chances are none of these filmmakers were on stage accepting awards. Ok, so the budget for these films are probably a little less than the one’s that took home the hardware, but money doesn’t always equal quality. Now through March 13, the DC Independent Film Festival is in full swing at the City Museum of Washington. Featuring over 100 of the latest independent features, shorts, animations and documentaries, the sixth annual event is the perfect opportunity to catch films you’d never see otherwise. Showcasing award-winning DC talent, you can also see the top choices from the Cannes, Sundance and Toronto festivals. Sessions include an animation, short or documentary, and feature film shown together and also include a Q&A with the directors.

What: 6th Annual DC Independent Film Festival

Cost: $9 per session; $7 for students; $25 for seminar, $200 for festival pass (includes all films and VIP Lounge)

When: March 2-12, times vary

Where: City Museum of Washington, D.C., 801 K St NW, Washington, DC 20001
