Jaguars Making Mark on History

Congratulations to students from Falls Church High School who have qualified for the National History Day regional competition on Saturday, Feb. 26 at George Mason University. Competing in various categories are Tom Gray, Steven Szatkowski, Ashley Terrell, Kira Schoenfelder, Sarah Parker, Nancy Gonzalez, Michael Trejo, Ben Johnson, Jaime Klopfer, Winnie Mulumba, Chrissy Quantrille, Mobashra Tazamal, Kara Westerfield, Caroline Bruss, Julia Bashore, Hannah Roth and Marissa Rubenstein.

Dallas Jazzed About Instructing Position

Certified Jazzercise instructor, Joan Dallas has begun teaching classes for franchise owner, Blaise Thompson, at Jhoon Rhee Tae Kwon Do Studio and Falls Church Community Center. Dallas earned the right to teach Jazzercise in February 2004 by completing an intense two-day workshop and performing a “letter-perfect” audition.

Hitched

Congratulations to Bethany Claire Falter and David Ashley Garrison of Falls Church who married December 24, 2004.

Toastmaster Masters

The Northern Virgina Toastmasters International Club held an international speech and evaluation contest for the first time Feb. 16 at Falls Church High School. Jim Raney and Gopi Shripathy took first place in evaluation and speech contests respectively. They will now compete at district level competitions.

W&M Dean’s List

Congratulations to the following students from Falls Church who were recently named to the Dean’s List at the College of William and Mary for the Fall 2004 semester; Heather Barnes, Nolan Bennett, Daniel Cogut, Matthew Goldman,, John Hipolit, Elizabeth Irwin, Younes Jabbara, Justin McIntosh, Michelle Mowery, Meghan Murray, Sara Parelhoff, Anna Solovieva, Andrew Starr, Elizabeth Wanlund and Rudan Zhang.

F.C. Arts Names Board

The Falls Church Arts group just elected new members to serve on its Board of Directors, including Tom Gittins, Marty Meserve, Joe Wetzel, Marty Behr, Linda Silk, Deb Yatsko, Gina Caceci, Helene Safford, Michele Black, Kathleen Buschow, Edna Frady, Eileen Levy, Klara Sever and Shaun Van Steyn.

Capitol Fundraisers

The musical political comedy troupe, The Capitol Steps, will perform on Sunday, March 6 at 4 p.m. in the McLean High School Auditorium. All proceeds benefit the All Night Graduation Party.

Congratulations to Jessica Vogt of Falls Church who recently graduated from Liberty University in Lynchburg.

Babe Ruth Registration

Falls Church/Annandale Babe Ruth Baseball is registering players for the 2005 Spring Season. Registration is at the Providence Recreation Center (near Falls Church High School) on Saturday Feb. 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Sunday Feb. 27 from Noon to 4 p.m. All players from 13 years to 19 years of age can register for a variety of playing levels. On-line registration is available at the web site www.FCABR.com.
