Jody's Jam of the Week

Chocolate Lovers Festival
By Jody Fellows

Way back in middle school, deep within the halls of George Mason, as part of the infamous “Koz Krew” chorus class, we sang a song describing the joys and delights of chocolate. Fifteen years later, the odds are good, that deep in the head of every one in that class are at least some of the lyrics. I find that everytime someone mentions a German chocolate cake, I have to shout out “chocolate, chocolate, chocolate!” But maybe that’s just me. Anyway, all this rambling is because of this weekend’s Chocolate Lovers Festival in the City of Fairfax. Started in ‘92, the event features a pancake breakfast, craft show, bake sale, chocolate book sale, “Taste of Chocolate” fest, chocolate art exhibition and much, much more. This two day festival will offer samples from such places as Aunt Joanie’s Chocolate Shoppe, Ben & Xander’s Fudge Co., The Melting Pot Restaurant, Watergate Pastry Shop, and more. All that chocolate will be sure to drive the ladies nuts, so grab your girl and check it out. Then maybe, she won’t be so mad when you forget Valentine’s Day in two weeks.

When: Saturday: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.; Sunday: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Where: Old Town Fairfax, Old Town Hall, Main Streets & North Street, Farifax, VA 22030
