Diane Peterson of Alexandria Dies

On December 19, 2004, Diane (Ashrey) Peterson Hughson, Alexandria resident and beloved wife of George Hughson, died at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church.

Hughson, a probation officer for the District of Columbia, has also worked as a corrections officer for the Massachusetts Department of Corrections at Walpole, and for the D.C. Department of Corrections.

While living in Hull, Ma. she was house manager and later director of Project Turnabout, an adult residential drug treatment facility. She was also a member of Hull Beautification, the Hull Garden Club, and the Hull Democratic Committee. A lover of animals, especially dogs, Hughson is survived by her husband George, her sister Elliot Ashrey, her daughters Karen Riccio, Leslie Earle, Lisa Peterson, and son Paul Peterson, along with nine grandchildren.
