Crime Report Ending January 17th


  • Larceny, Thomas Jefferson Elementary School, 601 S. Oak St., between Jan. 10, 2:30 p.m. and Jan. 11, 8:59 a.m., unknown person(s) stole a school crossing sign from the back of the school. A chain that secured the sign was cut. This is the second school crossing sign that has been stolen from T.J.
  • Larceny from Building, Economy Party Supplies, 1049 W. Broad St., between Jan. 10, 8:00 a.m. and Jan. 11, 12:44 p.m., unknown person(s) entered an employees purse and removed a wallet and check book. Several checks from the checkbook were written to purchase merchandise at area stores.
  • Burglary, Commercial, Complete Strategist, 103 E. Broad St., between Jan. 13, 7:00 p.m. and Jan. 14, 8:27 a.m., unknown person(s) broke the front glass door to the business and once inside stole a laptop computer, six packs of cards and four die.
  • Larceny, Shoplifting, Giant Food, 1230 W. Broad St., Jan. 16, 7:08 p.m., a group of juveniles (7), all male, entered the store and stole an eight pack of batteries and a disposable camera. The group fled the store on foot and were gone when police arrived.
  • Destruction of Property, 200 blk. S. Lee St., between Jan. 16, 12:30 p.m. and Jan. 17, 1:30 p.m., unknown person(s) shot a BB gun at a vehicle causing approximately 10 small circular chips in the paint of the vehicle. Several BB's were found on the ground near the vehicle.
