McLean Wrestlers Take Two Meets at Home

By Mike Hume

After nearly two weeks without competition and a well-deserved holiday break, the McLean wrestlers opened the New Year at home with dual meet wins over Washington & Lee, 55-19, and Edison, 48-35.

Troy Hayre (two falls at 130), Neal Moyer (default and fall at 140), Brendan Griffin (two falls at 152), Andrew Smith (regular decision and fall at 160), Jeremy Bussard (technical fall and fall at 171) and Shane Mills (forfeit and fall at 275) each won both matches. Tyler Callahan (103), Justin Johnson (112, fall), Sean Flint (135), Tyler Work (145), Andrew Ullrich (189, fall), and Tim Goodsell (215, fall) each picked up a single win during one of the two matches as well.

The Highlanders, who ran their record to 11-6, next wrestle at Stonewall Jackson High School on Saturday, Jan. 15 in a quadrangular match with Stonewall Jackson, Gar-field, and a third school to be determined. In the meantime, the JVs will be in action tomorrow at Westfield, and on January 13th at Falls Church.
