Jody's Jam of the Week

2005 Washington Auto Show
By Jody Fellows

You’ve seen those Lexus commercials, right? You know, the one where the guy surprises his wife with a brand new 2005 ES beneath the tree with a big red bow. I mean, come on, who gets a surprise car, let alone a Lexus, for Christmas outside the zip 90210? Back in the real world, where the only cars found under the tree are the Matchbox variety, we still can spend the season “ooing” and “ahhing” at shiny vehicles. No, don’t go down to then nearest car lot and stare at the inventory. Head to the Convention Center for the 2005 Washington Auto Show. This year’s theme is “Drive by Design” and features over 700 makes and models from 37 domestic and import manufacturers. In addition to the mechanical bodies, other bodies will be available for perusal as well, albeit a little more natural— I think. Divas from the WWE, Redskin’s cheerleaders and the Wizard’s dance team are just some of the attractions at this year’s event. Also appearing will be LaVar Arrington, Clinton Portis, Juan Dixon, Freddy Adu and many other area sports stars. For the kids— Ronald McDonald and stars from Shrek and Shark Tale will appearing. So go, check out the hot new rides at the Auto Show and quit pouting ‘cause you didn’t find a Hummer in your stocking.
