Oliver Stone's “Alexander,”
Multiple screens, opening this weekend.
OK, Ebert gives this only two stars, but the subject matter, the epochal scale, the kind of controversies that always attend Oliver Stone movies make this the kind of film that one has to check out for him or herself to form an independent opinion. It will either be surprisingly good, remarkably bad or devastatingly mediocre, depending, I suspect, on the eye of the beholder. By the way, there are a spate of good films out there now, including Finding Neverland, Kinsey and Bad Education. By friends tell the I would like The Incredibles and as a fan, personally, of Bob, I have to mention The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie. National Treasure is a disappointing Raiders of the Lost Ark slash DaVinci Code wannabe. But get your movies out of the way this weekend to save room for all the holiday season music and theatre in store.
