Mason High School Cross Country Prepares for District Meet

By Mike Hume

The George Mason High School cross country teams turned in solid performances at the district championships last Wednesday, with both the boys and the girls finishing second.

The girls from Mason were the only team in the district to place all seven runners in the top 15, but fell short of district champion Clarke County. Susanna Sullivan, Agnes Ek and Sarah Sullivan finished third, fourth and fifth overall, while Emma Goetz placed ninth, Emily Walden 12th, Nikki Williamson 14th and Jessie Porzel 15th.

In the boys race, John Sullivan finished third overall, Jon Byers placed eighth, Bryan Collins 12th and Chad O’Hara 13th. All runners placing 15th or better are named to the All-District Team.

The season continues for both teams as runners competed yesterday at Panorama Farms in Charlottesville, Va. with the regional championships.
