Two Found Guilty of September Shooting at Eden CenterOn Friday, October 29, 2004 Viet Quoc Hoang of Silver Spring Md. and Nam Quoc Hoang of Wheaton, New Jersey, both 28 years of age (twins), were each found guilty by a jury on one count of attempted murder and one count of use of a firearm during the commission of a felony after a trial was held in Arlington Circuit Court. The jury recommended a sentence of two years on the charge of attempted murder and three years (mandatory) on the firearms charge and the case has been continued to January 21, 2005 for sentencing.The charges stem from a shooting that occurred in Falls Church City in the Eden Center on September 7, 2004 during the busy afternoon shopping hours. Falls Church Police responded to the Shopping Center for a report of shots fired, located numerous shell casings near the Saigon Supermarket, and learned an innocent bystander had been struck by a bullet and sustained a grazing wound. The victim was transported to INOVA Fairfax Hospital for treatment and released the same day. Witnesses told police two individuals had confronted another individual and started shooting, at which time that individual shot back. The three individuals fled from the scene prior to police arrival. |
