McLean H.S. – 28, Fairfax H.S. – 14
The Highlanders rolled to victory in their homecoming game Saturday with special teams again playing a vital role.
After returning the opening kick of the second half for a touchdown against Marshall a week earlier, Brendan Griffin returned another kick for a touchdown. He also added a touchdown reception from quarterback J.D. Oldenburg.
The victory pushes McLean’s record to 4-2 on the season, Fairfax stands at 1-5.
McLean running back William Corey ran for 81 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries, while teammate Erik Smith, who also found the end zone, added 52 yards on 13 carries.

Neal Gillies caught three passes for 54 yards, while Thomas Haffey hauled in three receptions for 19 yards.
Edison H.S. – 40, Stuart H.S. – 19

Mt. Vernon H.S. – 20, Falls Church H.S. – 0
The Jags slipped again and have yet to post a win since their decisive victory in the season-opener over the Marshall Statesmen.
Four times Falls Church (1-5) drove into the Mt. Vernon red zone and four times the Jaguars came away empty.
While the Majors kept the Jaguars off the board, they had no answer for senior running back Eddie Robinson who sprinted for 162 yards on 22 carries. But he could never break into the end zone for a score.
Mt. Vernon (4-2) held Falls Church’s potent passing attack in check, limiting senior quarterback James Gannon to just 86 yards through the air and intercepting him twice. Gannon finished the game completing 10 of 32 passes. R.J. Davis led all Falls Church receivers with four receptions for 35 yards.
Falls Church will look to get its second win of the season in its homecoming game this Friday when the team takes on Yorktown (4-2).
