Falls Church Housing Group Launches Membership Drive

The Falls Church Housing Corporation launched a grass-roots membership drive this week with a direct mailing to many City of Falls Church residents. The non-profit's executive director, Carol Jackson, said the drive is aimed at rallying community-wide support for the group's efforts to develop affordable housing in the face of a "burgeoning housing crisis."

"Housing prices keep going up with no end in sight, while family and single person incomes can't keep up," she said. "It means trouble for three groups of people who want to live in Falls Church: older residents, young people beginning careers, and local business and public service employees."

The FCHC operates properties in the City and is seeking to develop more with caps on rentals for qualified residents. It is in its 23rd year of operation.

Chairing the group's membership committee is Carol DeLong, who served four terms as Mayor of Falls Church from1980-1988. Memberships range from $25 up. The group's office is at 105. N. Virginia Ave., #207, Falls Church, VA 22046. Phone (703) 241-5402.
